Konstantinos is a Spartan and Head Master of the Agoge.

Description

Head Master of the Agoge. This is just, for he was as fine a warrior as the Agoge ever produced. A hero on many a battlefield, and a shrewd and stalwart leader of men. The final campaign of his career as a soldier saw Sparta in alliance with the Amazons. An assignation with one such Amazon came to result in a daughter later joining him at the Agoge. Unconventional, but a tolerable result.

Konstantinos belongs to a long line of sculptors, going back nearly to my own day, all of them contributing to a project to span generations, in Queen Sparta's honour.

Biography

God of War: Sons of Sparta

Kratos and Deimos meet Konstantinos at his house in Sparta, he guesses that they have succeeded and Kratos confirms that they have killed a cyclops. He then gives them two stone heads of Lycurgus, enchanted busts to help them with their travels. Kratos states that the heads aren't that well sculpted to look like Lycurgus, to which Konstantinos explains that he is only as good as his tool and his best chisels are missing and on their place he found Kerkopes fur. Konstantinos tells the brothers to take the busts and enchanted further and then use them to get his chisel back.

After retrieving his chisel from the Kerkopes, Kratos and Deimos return it to Konstantinos. He further enchants their busts, to allow them to communicate with each other. Impressed by their deeds, Konstantinos praises them and gives them an iron bar, telling them to visit the forge-master, Tiberios, to forge something for them. Konstantinos notices that Deimos feels down and asks him about it. Deimos states its about Vasilis and how it doesn't feel right that no one is searching for him, even though Sparta rules say that they don't abandon their own. Konstantinos agrees, but states that they don't know from where to start looking for him as no guard saw him leaving Sparta. As they leave, Deimos wonders if Konstantinos was encouraging them to look for Vasilis, however Kratos disagrees.

After returning from the vineyard, they meeting with Konstantinos, who asks them if they have been using their Eiren's Pass to good use by seeking answers for the questions they have. Kratos and Deimos state they have, but still don't have the answers they wanted, although they did find an Altar of Anemos, enhancing their bust powers. Konstantinos then asks them to place their busts on the altar and further enhanced them, to help them seek their answers. Konstantinos then asks them if they have been taking care of their communal chores at the Agoge, and the two confirms its being take care of. Deimos then wants them to head for the mountain and tells Kratos he will meet him there.

Kratos had noticed that Konstantinos had started over making Queen Sparta's head a few times and asks him why. Konstantinos confirms, stating that the next block of marble will be the eighth time. Kratos is surprised as the current head feels almost finished. However, Konstantinos explains that from the moment he started on the seventh block, he knew it would be just a practice. He believes that the statue of Queen Sparta should be perfect and now with his best chisel back, Konstantinos feels that the Muses themselves guide his hands. Konstantinos tells Kratos that he doesn't need to call him "sir", but can use his name or Kostas, however Kratos believes he will continue calling him "sir".

Later on, when Konstantinos has an assignment for Kratos and Deimos, to go and check on Daedalus and the delivery. However as he realizes they neglected their duty and didn't report back, he sends Brontes.

Not long after that, Kratos reports that the foundry's doors are open and that the delivery is ready for dispatch. Konstantinos however is angry and tells Kratos that no matter what he achieve, he can't atone for his disobedience. He then orders Kratos to stop his search for Vasilis. Kratos states that since Vasilis didn't had a brother to search for him, it became Kratos' duty, however Konstantinos states that it became his desire, not duty, and his friends will no longer cover for him.

Later on, Kratos and Deimos find Vasilis dead body and bring it back to Sparta. A bit later, Konstantinos tells Kratos that since he and Deimos defiled his orders, they would be punished. Kratos then takes full responsibility, saying that Deimos wanted to stop, but he ordered him they continue the search. Konstantinos then asks in that case what would be Kratos' punishment and Kratos suggests to be beaten on the Artemis Cradle, and since he involved Deimos in this, he should take his beating as well. Konstantinos wonders if that seems a fair punishment and Kratos disagrees, saying that he also needs a third punishment for the death of Vasilis as he blames himself for it. Konstantinos states that his resolve and dedication is admirable, but not even Ares could withstand such punishment. Kratos won't be beaten, however for his insubordination and dereliction of duty, he forfeited his chance to join the Vanguard Circle. Due to his actions, they can't risk giving him a command to his own unit. Kratos accepts the decision. Before leaving, Konstantinos tells him to remember that there is nothing stronger than a broken man who rebuilds himself, and he can try again next summer.
